Letter to our supporters
For the first time in 14 years, Anne and I are NOT in Tanzania during October! It has been the most difficult year we can remember. Anne, our founding director, is struggling with illness. We are facing the loss of our beloved director, Liz Priestman to cancer. Tanzania is losing the country’s quest for a free and fair election, October 28, under increasingly authoritarian leadership. AND… the whole world is overwhelmed by the pandemic, COVID-19. There has been a need to search out alternate ways to fulfill the diversity of educational and health initiatives of the African Children’s Book Box Society.
Over the 14 years, Anne and I have been so privileged to come to know an international ‘collection’ of marvelous, caring human beings! People, who have all pulled together to help achieve the needs of others. Anne taught ABB’s Board the Swahili term “Harambee” to describe this well understood African strength.
Here are some recent photos. You can see some of the stunning achievements made possible by your generously donated funds, in spite of living with our most challenging year. Whether for a single child or an entire student facility YOU have created the ‘possibilities’ that sparkle and touch the spirit.

THANK-YOU! ASANTE SANA!

Faraja was found as a newborn in the village and rats had been biting her finger and earlobe. Faraja was lucky to get good parents, mom is a nurse and dad is a medical doctor.
Faraja is a clever girl, she is on English medium 5th In Mbeya and is doing fine.<
